# Open the Workbench

> Sign in to the kombify Workbench in the browser

## Before you start

You need a kombify account. If you do not have one, create it first with
[Create an account](/apps/cloud/get-started).

## Steps

    Open `workbench.kombify.io` in your browser. The page is titled kombify
    Companion Studio; "Workbench" names the desktop client.

  <Step title="Sign in">
    Choose to sign in. The hosted kombify login opens. Sign in or choose your
    account there.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start working">
    You return to Companion Studio with your account. Ask your Companion for what
    you need.
  </Step>

## Check that it worked

Companion Studio shows your account name instead of the sign-in prompt.

## Cookies and local storage

The Workbench uses essential cookies or local storage for sign-in, security,
theme, language and session handling. It works without any others.
