# AI Guide and Workbench

> How the kombify AI website, the Workbench and the Workbench desktop client fit together

kombify AI is built around the Companion: one assistant that follows through
on what you ask. You reach it through three places.

<Warning>
  Companion Studio and the Workbench desktop client are in Alpha. Features, names and
  availability can still change.
</Warning>

## The places

| Place | Where | Needs an account |
| - | - | - |
| AI Guide | `ai.kombify.io` | No. You can read the product information and ask the AI Guide questions. |
| Companion Studio (web) | `workbench.kombify.io` | Yes. Sign-in uses the hosted kombify login. |
| Workbench (desktop client) | Windows app | Yes. It signs in through the same login. |

## What the AI Guide can see

Questions you ask the AI Guide are sent to the AI service without access to your
account or personal history.

## Keys and models

The desktop client holds no provider keys. Which models you can use is decided
by the server side of kombify AI, not by the app on your computer.

## The desktop client

The Workbench desktop client is a Windows-first control surface for local coding
sessions, with optional governed cloud endpoints. It is built on the open source
T3 Code project by T3 Tools, Inc. and credits it. Preview builds are unsigned,
so Windows may warn before you start one.
