# Sign-in problems and account basics

> Understand which kombify sign-in you use and what to try when it fails

## Which sign-in is which

There are two separate kinds of sign-in in kombify, and mixing them up is the
most common reason people get stuck.

| Sign-in | Where | For what |
| - | - | - |
| kombify account | The hosted login at `login.kombify.io`, then `app.kombify.io` | kombify Cloud, the dashboard, the AI studio and Companion |
| Local identity of your homelab | PocketID and TinyAuth on your own computer | The services of your homelab, such as photos or passwords |

The two do not replace each other. Removing a hosted connection never removes
your local access.

## Sign in to your kombify account

1. Go to `kombify.io` and choose to sign in.
2. The hosted login page opens. Sign in or choose your account there.
3. You arrive at `app.kombify.io`.

All steps for sign-in, sign-up and account choice happen on the hosted login
page, not on a form of the website you came from. Check the address of the
login page before you enter anything. The official domain is `login.kombify.io`.

## If sign-in fails

1. Return to `kombify.io` and start the sign-in again.
2. Check that you use the e-mail address you registered with.
3. Check that your browser allows cookies and local storage for the site, which
   the sign-in uses.
4. If it still fails, write to [info@kombify.io](mailto:info@kombify.io) and
name the time of the attempt. Never send a password.

## Manage your plan

Change or cancel your plan in the billing portal. See
[Change or cancel your plan](/apps/cloud/plans-and-billing).

## Where your data is described

What kombify keeps and why is explained in the privacy policy.
