# Chat, voice and decisions in Companion

> Write or speak to your Companion, send files, answer decisions and report a problem

<Warning>
  The Companion app is in an internal preview. Some of what is described here
  has not yet been checked on real devices, and iOS voice is still being
  verified. Features can change.
</Warning>

## Chat with your Companion

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start a chat">
    The start screen asks "How can I help you?". Type in the box that says
    "Write a message", or tap a suggestion.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the answer">
    The answer appears as it is written. AI can make mistakes, so check
    important information.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Come back later">
    Your chats are listed under **Chats**, sorted into last 24 hours,
    previous 7 days and older. Choose **New chat** to start fresh.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you were active in a chat in the last two hours, the start screen offers
**Continue** for it.

## Send a file

Add a file to your message from the composer. Up to five files and 10 MB in
total fit in one message. If a file is too large or of a type that is not
accepted, the app tells you and does not add it.

## Talk instead of typing

* **Dictation** turns your speech into text in the message box. Your draft is
  kept if dictation fails.
* **Voice conversation** lets you talk with your Companion and hear spoken
  answers. When you start one, the app tells you that your microphone audio
  goes to the kombify voice service and counts toward your AI usage.

The app asks for microphone access the first time you use voice. If you said no,
allow it in your device settings.

## If you are offline

A text message you write without a connection is kept on your phone and sent
when you are back online. You can choose **Send now** or **Do not send**. Files
are not queued.

## Decisions that need you

Some actions need your approval. They appear under "Waiting for your decision"
with the server, the risk level and when the request expires.

1. Open the request and read it.
2. Choose **Approve** or **Deny**.
3. If you approve, confirm. kombify runs the action on your server right away.
4. Check the result: "Action completed", "Action failed" or "Denied".

If your decision was not confirmed, send it again. The action never runs twice.

## Notifications

In **Settings** you can allow notifications for this device. If they are turned
off in the system settings, the app tells you.

## Report a problem

In **Settings**, choose **Report a problem** and check what the report
contains before you send it. It lists screens you opened recently, your
appearance and navigation settings, the app version, technical state and a
pseudonymous account ID.

## If something goes wrong

1. "Companion is not available for this account right now": try again later.
2. "We couldn't load your conversations": check your connection and try again.
3. "Companion couldn't finish this response": send your message again.
4. "The connection ended before the response could be confirmed": reload the
   conversation before you continue.
5. If a message shows a **support code**, include it when you write to
   [info@kombify.io](mailto:info@kombify.io).
6. For voice problems: "Voice conversations are not enabled for your account"
   or "Your included usage for this period is used up" mean your account cannot
   use voice right now. If cloud voice processing is off, the app offers to
   allow it.
7. Still stuck? Send a problem report from **Settings**.
