Here is what you can do with an address once it exists, and what visitors see afterwards.

What you can change

A name cannot be renamed. To get a different name, add a new address with the name you want, move your visitors over, then remove the old one. Changes take effect quickly. kombify.me keeps a routing cache of about 60 seconds and clears it when you change or delete an address.

Steps

Switch an app off: turn off “exposed” for that app. Visitors then get a “not exposed” page (404). Turn it on again at any time. Pause an address: set its status to inactive. Visitors get a 503 “inactive” answer. Set it to active to resume. Point it somewhere else: change the target. The new target must follow the same rules as before. A public address needs a public web address. Remove an address: delete it. After removal the name stops working.

What visitors see

Accounts that are suspended

If a self-hosted account is suspended, its API key is refused with a 403 “account suspended” message. kombify.me has no separate public page about reports or blocked addresses. If you think this happened by mistake, write to info@kombify.io with the name and the time.

Replacing your key

A self-hosted account can replace its API key. The old key stops working immediately, so update every place that uses it.
