A StackKits server works on its own, without kombify.me. An address is an optional extra that makes some apps reachable from outside.

What happens automatically

When a connected StackKits or Techstack flow registers your server, it can:
  • create your base name, for example mylab-u8f3k2.kombify.me
  • create one name per kit app, always as {base}-{app}.kombify.me
  • keep new apps switched off until you allow them
Kit apps such as auth, id and coolify always get the form mylab-u8f3k2-auth.kombify.me. The bare name auth.kombify.me is never used. Kit apps do not count against your limit of 20 custom apps per base name.

Steps

  1. Install and start your StackKits server as usual. Check that it works on your local network first.
  2. Connect the server to your kombify account through the connected flow.
  3. Decide per app whether it is reachable from the internet.
  4. Switch on only the apps you want visitors to reach.
  5. Open the app’s kombify.me address in a browser.

What stays local

Names inside your home network are handled by the resolver that StackKits installs. Hosted *.lan.kombify.me names are not implemented. Remove the internet address and the app keeps working locally.

Removing a server

When a connected server is removed, its addresses can be removed with it. The helper addresses that kombify.me created for it are released too. If the clean-up fails, the request reports an error and can be repeated safely.
