example.com, with
HTTPS. kombify never needs access to your DNS provider: you add two records
yourself and kombify checks them.
Before you start
- You own a domain and can edit its DNS records at your DNS provider.
- Your plan includes a domain. Custom domains come with quarterly billing of the Pro plan (1 domain) or the All You Need plan (2 domains). The page Settings, Domains shows “X of Y in use”. If your plan does not include domains, the page says so; see Plans and billing.
- Your server is running. The records to set appear only once your stack has a server address.
Steps
1
Open Domains
Open Settings from the account menu, then the Domains tab.
2
Enter your domain
Under “Use a domain you own”, type the domain and choose Connect. It
appears under “Your domains” with the status “Setting up”.
3
Add the two DNS records
The entry lists two A records, one for the domain itself and one for all
its subdomains, with their values. Add exactly these at your DNS provider.
Set them to DNS only (no proxy) and remove any other A records for
these names.
4
Check DNS
Choose Check DNS. Each record shows “Correct”, “Not found” or “Points
to” another address.
5
Wait for HTTPS
When both records are correct, your stack requests the HTTPS certificate.
The status changes to Live and the page says your domain is live.
Check that it worked
Your domain shows Live in the list.Other things on this page
- The page also offers to register a new domain through kombify. If it says “Registering domains is not available for your account yet”, that part is not open to you. When it is open, you see the price per year and must confirm it before anything is bought.
- Extra domains are not sold as an add-on yet. Larger plans include more.
If something goes wrong
- “Your stack is not ready for this domain yet.” Wait until your server runs, then choose Check DNS again.
- “Not every record points at your stack yet.” DNS changes can take a few minutes to show. Check the values and try again.
- “This domain was checked a moment ago.” Wait the number of seconds shown.
- “Setup failed” or “Needs support”. Write to info@kombify.io with the domain name.
- “All domains included in your plan are in use.” Compare plans in Plans and billing.
