Evidence state (2026-09-17, v0.35.0): Passwords with Vaultwarden is supported on the public v0.35.0 archive. A lifecycle run on Ubuntu 24.04 amd64 (Basement Kit, standalone) passed install, init, generate, apply, setup-vault, verify, backup, isolated restore, and restore activation. The application-level readback after restore is pending. The owner setup prepares an invitation only; the account is complete once an official Bitwarden client registers it.
Passwords gives your household a password vault on a host you operate. Vaultwarden runs the vault, and each person reaches it with a Bitwarden client. The release catalog calls this use case Password Vault and delivers it as the optional vault workload. The initial Basement and Cloud StackSpecs do not select it.

Applications

Vaultwarden

The Bitwarden-compatible server behind Passwords: released contract, owner setup and client enrollment.

Before you start

  • Decide who gets an account and which registration policy you want.
  • Keep recovery material outside the server.
  • Confirm that your backups cover the Vaultwarden data volume, and practice a restore before the vault holds secrets you cannot recreate.

Set it up

Select the workload and complete the owner setup on the Vaultwarden page. The vault is ready for a person once they register in a Bitwarden client, sign in, and create and sync one entry.
